Oh, hi there...

I nearly forgot about this blog! Silly me... probably because I haven't REALLY written since I developed that short I mentioned in the previous/first entry. No, wait; that's a lie. I wrote two proposals and two features for a contest for the Chinese government. Yup. Go me. The proposals weren't chosen, but I have two feature scripts out of it. Ha cha cha!

I've also since won an award for a short screenplay at the Snake Alley Festival of Film in Burlington, Iowa.

In September, I'll be attending two screenwriting workshops. One is an evening to get feedback on a feature I wrote last September, and the second is a TWO-WEEK retreat with my mentor to develop a NEW feature.

And speaking of that feature, I actually wrote a writing-related blog entry on one of my other NINE BLOGS. My next feature will cover infertility and surrogacy, which I NEED to research because, as a Forever Aunt, I won't be dealing with any of that in my own life. Here's that entry, which I posted on my 'Childfree Blog': http://independentofdependents.blogspot.com/2013/08/a-funny-thing-happened-while.html

Happy Friday and WRITE ON!

What Number Blog is This?

Last night, the phrase "Live Your Life Write" came into my head. Apparently there is already a blog by that name, so I snatched "I Live My Life Write". As a writer, I am well aware that it is "misspelled" but that is quite purposeful. (or porpoise-ful! hardy har har)

I know they say "Write what you know" but it's also important to research until you DO know.

Here are things I've been researching for my current short script:
-tactical folding knives
-blackjack batons
-roundhouse kicks
-open palm slaps
-glove prints (sorry criminals, cops can still trace your gloves that you wear to avoid fingerprints) see: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/3740688/Police-use-glove-prints-to-catch-criminals.html

I won't tell you what my script is about. But does this list spark something in your brain? Write it.
P.S. This is blog #9. Click on 'Scribble Scribe' to see more.
